You're just being lazy! Seriously.

I apologize in advance for the overuse of the word "seriously" in this blog.

I know I can be lazy. But, there's a difference between being lazy and just not caring and being irresponsible. I'm taking a Red Cross course to become a certified CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor and we occasionally have small homework assignments (seriously, like no work at all). So, the one time we are assigned to do something, this person in my class doesn't do it. Seriously?! Seriously! We were handed out little booklets about different workplace modules, such as Slips, Trips, and Falls, Your Heart Matters, and Stress Management, just to name a few. All we had to do was prepare a short presentation of the information in our packets. Simple, right? Yeah, you would think so. However, you actually have to read the information and prepare a little something. You can't just go up there and wing it. However, that's what this person did. They hadn't even read the information and then this person talked for nearly 30 minutes. Are you kidding me? Seriously! Not only that, but this person tries to be funny and I was in no laughing mood. Our class goes from 6-10pm and this person was the last to go. We didn't leave until 10:10pm. I was pissed! I wanted to punch this person in the face. Seriously. How inconsiderate can you be? Not only to your classmates, but to your volunteer instructor.

What makes me more upset is this isn't the first time that this person has been an inconsiderate ass. One night they asked the instructor if we could get out of class early because they really needed some overtime at work. Seriously? Now, I realize that our instructor could have been like, "No, this class ends at 10pm" but I can't believe they even had the nerve to ask. Then another person said that they had to leave 1.5 hours early and asked the instructor to come in an hour earlier the next class meeting! Again, I can't believe they had the nerve to ask! Come on people. Show a little respect. This man has volunteered his time to teach you! It just really frustrates me how rude people can be.

Big Step

I don't know why, but recently eHarmony has caught my attention. "View your matches for free." I finally decided, okay, sure, why not? So one night I decided to sign up and fill out the profile. Now I'm being matched with all these guys, but the catch is you've got to pay for the membership before you can see their pictures or get to know a guy better, which I knew would happen. Nothing is ever free, just got to remember that. However, it still intrigues me. I'm considering signing up for the dang thing anyway but I should probably set aside some money. It's just more than I'm willing to spend. It also makes me question myself. Am I ready for this? Part of me is definitely ready, or I wouldn't have done it. However, part of me is hesitating. I think I'm hesitant to sign up because it's the internet, and I don't trust the internet. More so, I don't trust the people who use the internet. I've watched/heard too much about fake internet identity, and it just scares me. However, eHarmony has awesome reviews, so it's just something I'm thinking about. We'll see. Simply investigating was my big step.

On a different note, I was extremely disappointed in the Husker's performance this weekend against Virginia Tech. Come on guys! Gotta score when you're inside the 10-yard line! Field goals won't cut it. I can only hope for a better performance this weekend against LA-Lafayette. It's the 300th consecutive sellout game at Memorial Stadium. I scored some tickets from a friend at work. I decided to take my brother as his birthday gift. I thought he'd enjoy it more than a t-shirt or something. My cousin Katie, my sister and her husband will all be here Friday night, then Katie and Joel will stay Saturday night, so the apartment will be at maximum capacity. I just wish I lived in a house sometimes. So much more room. Someday, though. I just don't have the income to make a house payment and a car payment.

Becky and I are going to do a little shopping after work today. I need to get a few things so we'll be going to the South side to shop at Village Point. I haven't gone shopping in a long time, so I'm due.

I'm thinking it's time to schedule a trip back home. I feel like I haven't been there in a while. Well, I guess it's been almost a month. I went home for Labor Day, so it hasn't been that long, but I don't like to be gone for too long. Especially now that my baby girl is back home. I need to go see her. It sucks talking to my mom on the phone and listening to her talk about how cute Brittany is. For the record, I know that mother! Ha ha.

sorry August

I decided to begin with an apology to the month of August. It was probably one of the busiest months of the year. School began at UNL and we were busy training new workers and doing staff training. Just no spare time!

Life has been good, though. I'm enjoying every minute I spend with my niece, Brittany. She is so fun and SO adorable. She's at the point now where she just smiles and laughs. She loves her daddy, he makes her laugh. She is growing so fast! I can't believe it, every time I see her she looks different. She'll be two months old on the 17th, and she's wearing 6-9month clothing because she's too long for the others. Big girl!

Last weekend I was home for Labor Day. I took Friday afternoon off and got my haircut. I decided to go short again. It's just much less hassle, and it's super cute, so until I get married (if...I guess I should say), I'm going to keep it short. I'm one of those girls who has been planning her wedding since the beginning of time, so I already know how I want my hair done, and short hair just won't cut it! Anyway, back to Labor Day weekend. We had a surprise 60th birthday party for my Aunt Sue. It was also Sue and Don's 40th wedding anniversary, so I got to see all of my cousins on my mom's side. We haven't all been together for years. I can't remember the last time we were all together. It was nice seeing everyone. Usually during Labor Day weekend I partake in Bradish Days festivities, however since the party and Bradish Days were on the same day this year, I chose my family. Next year, Bradish.

On a sad note, I must mention the passing of a beloved friend. My dog, Harley, left for Heaven a few weeks ago. He was so sick and miserable. Life just wasn't fun for him anymore. Shots, pills, constant itching, blindness.....it's just no way for a dog to live. We had him cremated and spread his ashes at one of his favorite places in the world, the park. I miss him so much, and it's really weird looking at pictures that he's in because he's not there anymore. It also sucks to go home sometimes because I don't have my welcoming committee. So, Harley, I love you and I know you're catching all those squirrels in doggie-Heaven. There will never be another like you, my friend. You'll always be my best boy. Here's a picture of Harley and Flash a few weeks before Harley left us. It is just so sweet and really shows what good buddies they were. Dogs definitely know when things are not as they should be. So, Flash is coping with the loss of his best friend.

Can't think of too many other updates. I know it's been awhile, but work consumes most of my time. I'll try to be a little better about posting in the future.

Brittany Jo Sup

I have a niece! Brittany Jo Sup, born Friday, July 17, 2009 at 1:22 p.m. She was 9 lbs. 8 oz. and very healthy. She is a beautiful beautiful baby girl and I could not love her any more! I decided to go home on Wednesday night last week because I thought Angie would have that baby on Thursday when she went into the hospital. However, baby Brittany didn't want to come out till Friday, which just so happened to be Joel and Angie's 5th wedding anniversary. Anyway, I missed work Thursday and Friday so this week has been hell trying to make up the time I was away. But, it was nice to be home for a while.
So, to de-stress, Bonnie came up to visit me this weekend. We had a great time! Friday we got some grub at the DQ and went to see the movie "The Ugly Truth." It was hilarious, I suggest you go see it. But Saturday was the real day-o-fun. We went to the Rec and played racquetball, badminton, and basketball. After that, we went to Ivanna Cone and got some ice cream then headed to Kohls. I bought some jewelry, a cute little outfit for Brittany, and a little brown jacket to wear over my dress.
After shopping we came back to the apartment and got ready to go out for dinner. We ate at Shogun, a Japanese steak house. It was so delicious. I love Japanese food. After dinner we headed out to JAV, or James Arthur Vineyards. They had a band there so we just sat outside and drank wine. They closed at 9, so we bought some mudslide mix and went back to my apartment and relaxed. This morning we went to church and grabbed some lunch at Perkins. Then, it was time for Bonnie to make the long drive home. Thanks for the visit Bonnie, I had a wonderful time!

Baby Sup update!

Big Bang Boom!

No, I'm not talking about the celebration in Norfolk, Nebraska. Just plain ole' simple 4th of July. I'm off work at 5 today just in time to eat supper with my sister who is coming to visit from Omaha. Not quite sure where we're going, but who cares!? Mom was going to try to come down, but things didn't pan out for her. Too bad, she works too hard. So I don't really know what Teresa and I are going to do tomorrow. I'd like to do some shopping since Becky and I ended up not going last weekend. I just love the Kohls in south Lincoln, and stuff is always on sale! You can't beat that! I just wish it wasn't so hard for me to find bottoms. I'm too round and too short. Oh well. I'll find something I'm sure.

Big news at my apartment. My 3rd roommate, Raquel, is moving in this week, sometime. We've also decided to shell out an extra $25/month to get a washer and dryer. It will be well worth it. I haven't had a place with a washer and dryer for like 1 and a half years. So, that will be nice.

I had my first dream about Baby Sup last night. I dreamt that Angie went into labor and gave birth to a beautiful, healthy, chubby baby boy. They decided to name him Landon, which is also the name of Becky's youngest nephew. It was funny. But, I don't think Landon is on Joel's "approved baby name" list. We'll see, I guess! I called mom this morning and told her about it then she said she had a dream that Angie had a girl. It's obvious that we're excited, I think!

Amy will be crashing at my place all next week. I haven't lived with her for over 2 years so it will be a flashback having her around for a while. She's all grown up and getting married, so I better savor the time I've got left with un-married Amy.

Finally got a weekend set up with Bonnie. Yay! I've got "Fun List" full of ideas for us to partake in. So, Bonnie, gear up for that! Yippee! Now I just need to see that Shannon gal sometime this summer and I'll be pretty much set.

It's not even noon, and I'm hungry. I think I'll go eat since I'm leaving a bit early today. Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday weekend. If you have to work tomorrow, I'm sorry. Hopefully I'll get to meet Baby Sup this weekend! If so, you can bet that I'll have some beautiful baby pics to post next time!

Ready for the Weekend

The week has been busy and went extremely fast.

Tuesday night, my team, the Frozen Ropes, played our first game in the summer league. Our pitchers were both gone, which put us in a predicament. I volunteered to give it a whirl. Amazingly enough, I'm a pretty good slow-pitch pitcher. Even had a few strike-outs. It was extremely hot, however. The heat index that day was 107 and the humidity percentage was way up there. Not my cup of tea. However, the night ended up cooling off just enough for us to pull out a 10-3 victory. It was super fun.

Wednesday night we had a get-together at my boss's house. Lots of my co-workers and I met and brought food for our burger bash. We played lots of games and had a fun night. I was so tired by the end of the night, so I went straight home to bed while the others decided they weren't done partying. However, they were hurting the next day, but I know when to stop.

Thursday night was my first Saltdogs game experience. Becky got us hooked up with VIP parking, and seats in Suite 310, complete with air conditioning! The game wasn't much, but Becky, Jared, and I had a good time just kickin' a few back and catching up. The hunger then got to us so we traveled to Carlos O'Kelly's for some enchiladas and margaritas.

Then Friday morning came. I called Windstream a few days ago to set up our internet connection. They set an appointment to come in this morning between 8am-12pm. Which was fine with me because normally I don't have to be into work until 10am. So, I decided to get up right at 8 in case they came right away. Then came 9. Then 10. Then 11. My frustration was at it's peak until I was dialing their number to complain. Just then, at 11:58a.m. I get a phone call. They came at the last possible minute, which, I must say WAS between 8 and 12, but come on! I just thought they'd be there at like 10 or something. Anyway, I finally got to work today at 1pm and I'm still leaving at 6, I don't care if I don't work 8 hours today. Jared, Becky, and I are going out to eat at Skeeter Barnes. I haven't been there since Becky's birthday last year. It was so good! They brought her out some Bread Pudding dessert, which Becky renamed "Deliciousness." It is beyond yummy.

Not quite sure what the weekend holds. Becky and I are heading to Omaha tomorrow to do some shopping. She needs some shoes and dress pants, and since I'm her personal shopper, I have to go too. =) It's okay, I enjoy shopping. Then we'll probably head to Yutan to visit Derek. We'll be checking out "Yutan Days" and see everything that town has to offer. So, it should be a fun weekend, whatever happens.

Baby Update: Angie has been super uncomfortable. The doctor took her off of her "stop the contractions" medication, so she could pop any day now. =) They think the baby weights about 8.5 lbs. Ang said that Baby Sup has a huge head. I can't wait to meet him or her! Yay!

Ribs. I had ribs for lunch.

Had to start things off with a quote from "Anchorman." I've been craving ribs, but have not gotten any yet. Famous Daves is calling my name, but for now I have to tune it out because I've got to work for a few more hours.
I had a really fun weekend. I got into town Friday evening around 8:30 p.m. so I didn't get to do anything to kick off Alumni weekend. But, on Saturday morning, Angie and I went out to the fairgrounds and watched Teresa and her v-ball team fail miserably. It was still kinda fun to watch. Shortly after they lost, I traveled to Cassie's to see what had changed at her house. I was super surprised at what I saw. She's been a busy bee! I'm so proud of her! The house is looking great. Beck and her were painting when I got there so I grabbed a roller and started working. After lunch we were back at it for the remainder of the afternoon. We got a lot done and Becky even mowed the lawn just before it started to rain. We had a good time, even though we were working! Something about renovations just doesn't feel like work sometimes.
Angie is getting closer and closer to having Baby Sup! Joel is convinced that she'll have her/him this weekend, but I'm hoping she can hold out until July 3rd because that's when I'll be home next! Of course I'll go home if she has the babe earlier, but it would just be so convenient if it worked out that way. I'm also excited to go back and help Cass get some more stuff done.
Saturday night was super fun. The night started off a little slow. Cass, Beck, and I ate supper at the Bowling Alley. I always get a Philly steak and cheese and french fries because they are so good! Then, as the hours passed, more and more people from our class showed up. We bowled a few games and then headed out to the Fairgrounds for the dance. The dance was super lame, but the drinks were flowing so we had a good time none-the-less. Got to talk to lots of people I haven't seen in a while. I think it's safe to say that a good time was had by all.
Sunday was Father's day. I got dad a $25 gift certificate to Duster's in Columbus, because I had NO idea what to get him. I feel like I always get him a t-shirt or a hat and I just wanted to do something different. So, now him and mom will have an excuse to get out of town and go eat somewhere nice. Dad also got the movies "Gran Torino" and "Valkyrie" so we order some pizza from Caseys (by the way, WORST PIZZA I'VE EVER HAD) and watched Gran Torino. It was SUCH a good movie. I highly recommend it. It was a great performance by Clint Eastwood, or Clint Westwood as my dad calls him. Ha ha very funny.
Work was rough today. I'm super tired and I drove back from home today, so I got 2 hours less sleep then I generally need. But, I guess that's kind of my fault. I'm just not looking forward to going home, unloading my car, unpacking, making supper, blah blah blah. Just a case of the Mondays I guess.
But, I have things to look forward to. I have a softball game tomorrow night (which may SUCK because it's going to be a heat index of at least 107, ouch), a staff party at my boss's place on Wednesday, I've got VIP box seats at the Saltdogs game on Thursday, which is also my mom's birthday, and Friday I may be going to Yutan for Yutan Days. We'll have to see. As long as Baby Sup doesn't come early, things should go smoothly.

The Ring of Fire

And by that, i mean the burning ring of fire that is my body. I know I know, it's my own fault for not using enough sunblock. I randomly decided to go to the College World Series in Omaha yesterday with my friends Mike and Shannon. We left Lincoln around 11 and watched two games. One at 1pm, the other at 6pm. Hottest baseball games I've ever watched in my 23 years of living. It was ridiculous. No wind whatsoever. Sweltering. Literally. So anyway, enjoy the picture of that.

Not too much else going on. This weekend is my 5 year class reunion at BCHS. I know, whoptie doo, but I am excited to see some peeps. Even if no one else comes, I know that Cass, Bex, and Ash will be there and that's enough for me. =) We're just planning a simple gathering at Fairview Lanes, so I think it will be a good time, despite everyone else's bitching and moaning. Sometimes there are just those people who think that nothing is ever going to be fun. I am NOT one of those people, and I think this party has potential! So, screw you, fun-haters.
Also, this weekend would be Father's day, and I have NO idea what to get my pops. I feel like all I ever get him is a t-shirt or a hat. Lame. I need ideas! My mom's birthday is also next week, the 25th. She is a bit easier to buy gifts for because she actually gave me ideas. Yay mom!

fun-filled Friday

TGIF! I came into work early today so I could leave a little early. Yay! I'm also getting my hair cut today at 1pm. I just need something new. I was thinking about letting it grow again for awhile, but it's in that "in-between" phase and I decided that I hate it. So Jessica is going to fix me up today, bless you Jessica!

I'm also planning on doing some shopping today and/or tomorrow. Beck and I decided we need something fresh and new to wear to our 5 year class reunion next weekend in A-town. Oh boy. I actually am looking forward to it, though. We'll be gathering at the bowling alley for some food and beverages. Should be a good time.

My friend Jessica is coming back home to Nebraska from sunny California for a wedding. So, we're getting together on Sunday late afternoon at Bisonwiches. I've never eaten there, but I've heard the chips and cheese is to die for and if I don't get it I'm "un-American." So, I guess I'll be getting some chips and cheese! My buddy Holly (ha ha, no pun intended) is also going to be back in Nebraska from Texas! I'm super excited to see everyone. The weekend will go much too fast, I'm sure.

I'm still anxiously awaiting Baby Sup's arrival. Angie is getting bigger every day (so I'm told) and I am super excited. The nursery is Pooh themed. Becky got a Tigger puzzle for her birthday this year that we will be giving to Baby Sup when he or she arrives. It is SO hard to put together. It's one of those puzzles that is a bajillion little pictures, so it's quite a challenge. We've stayed up late this week trying to get as much done as possible. Hopefully we can get it done before the babe gets here. =) Things are going well at the Rec, not much new to report. Wishes for a pleasant weekend go out to all! P.S. June Fizzerst

So, I don't know where May went. Honestly. I woke up today and it was June 1st, that's all I know. Obviously I've been super busy, which is basically true. The only time I'm on the internet is when I'm at work, therefore, the only time I can blog is when I'm at work. Becky and I are working on getting internet. It's just making the phone call to Windstream that's troubling us...and the fact that Becky is the only one with a desktop computer which means she needs a router....unless we get a wireless one...hmmm, there's a concept. I guess we should get with the times. =)

This weekend I went to Angie's first baby shower. It was SO cute. We played lots of little games and Ang got lots of cute gifts. After the shower I helped set up the baby's swing and highchair. They are sweet. Then, Joel, Ang, and I went to Columbus because Joel was craving McDonalds. Weird, I thought Angie was supposed to be craving things. Anyway, it was super fun. I also went to check out Cassie's new house this weekend. It's big, and they've got lots of work to do, but I know Cass will get it done and make it all cute. =)

Yutan? Sure I can!

Long time, no post. Oops.
Here are the updates, people. Pay attention.

1. APARTMENT
I am moving into my new apartment with Becky on Friday! Wo! That came fast. I've been busy packing and cleaning and such. Not terrible, but I'm dreading moving all of those boxes on Friday and Saturday. It will be worth it in the end. I love new places and new surroundings. We met with Raquel (our other roommate) on Saturday and drew for rooms. I think we were all happy with what rooms we got. So, that's cool. You can come help me move if you want! =)

2. JOB
Love it. Hours can be rough at times. However, I think they are going to change soon. I work 11-8 now and when I get off work I am just drained. Normally, I'd be excited for 3:30 p.m. because three quarters of my day would be gone, but nope. I have to work for 4.5 more hours! Crazy! But, I'm getting used to it.

3. LIFE
Life is good. Nothing too new. Joel and Angie registered for baby stuff at Target, so I'm excited to scope that out in the near future. I need to get paid first before I splurge on my niece or nephew (whatever it may be!). I'm betting on a girl. Last week was student appreciation week at UNL, so we honored the students at the Rec with a keg....of rootbeer. It was awesome. We got ice cream from the Dairy Store and had rootbeer floats. It was a big hit. Yay! Plus one for me.
I went to Yutan, NE for the first time this weekend. My friend Nelson just bought a house there, so we played a bunch of games and grilled burgers and brats. It was super fun. Anyway, gotta run!

It Is Time

Time to tell everyone the good news. SHEILA HAS A JOB! WoHoO! I am now the Member Services Specialist at the UNL Campus Recreation Center. My first official day is tomorrow. I am super excited for my first day as a professional. Lots of changes to make, lots of growing to do personally and professionally, and lots of exciting new things to learn and adapt to. I must say...it feels good.
So, other than my new job, my friend Shannon got married this past weekend. She looked so beautiful. Her dress was amazing.

It was quite a fun weekend. Bonnie, just so you know, I love you. You are an amazing person, and I have the greatest time when we hang out (even though you have a stanky legg).

I also said in my last post (which was over a month ago) that I was going to post some pictures from my vacation. That will not be happening. =) I know, I'm a liar. I know that everyone who reads my blog is on facebook anyway, so you can see them on there. Sorry, I'm lazy.

I don't have anything planned this weekend, which is awesome! It's the first weekend since January that I've had nothing to do. I am quite excited. I think I might do some shopping or something. I'm going to need some new clothes for my new job, right? I also need to do some major grocery shopping. I don't think I've done that for a few weeks. Yikes.

FLoRiDuH!

G'day everyone!
Finally back in the swing of things in Nebraska. Vacation was so fun, but it's always nice to come home. Prepare yourself, this will be a long one (that's what she said). Ha.
Pre-Florida (Friday)
So Mother Nature tried to be a little bitch and ruin our plans. I took off work and headed to Omaha at 10:20AM or so (after my haircut). I had an interview scheduled for 4PM. The drive went okay, but as I went past the Gretna exit things got a little messy. I went from going 70mph to 45mph. Finally, I got off of I-680 and onto Maple. I then camped out at my sister's place. After shoveling the 3 inches of snow off her driveway I started to get ready for my big interview. Then, I got a phone call and due to worsening weather we rescheduled my interview to Thursday. No big deal. Around 2:30pm I shoveled another 3 inches of snow off T&J's drive way just in time when Teresa pulled up. Mom, Dad, Joel, and Ang had left A-town because they didn't want to drive in the dark, but they finally got into town safely. Probably the most exciting thing that happened was watching my niece or nephew on tv. Joel and Ang had a VHS of their last ultra sound. I heard her (because I think it's a girl) heartbeat, saw all 10 fingers, and watched her wiggle. SO EXCITED. Only 1/2 way to go! Yay!
Valentine's Day (Saturday)
The plane departed Omaha at 10:10AM, and with no delays, we stopped in Chicago, unloaded and loaded some more passengers and then we were off to Orlando. After getting our luggage and rental car we were off to the Caribe Royal. Our villas were super nice. 3 bedrooms and a pull out couch, which (of course) was my bed. Wasn't too shabby, though. Saturday night we grabbed a quick supper, played a round of putt-putt and then checked out the pool at our hotel. Pretty nice. I'll have pics sometime soon.
Race Day (Sunday)
The Daytona crew left just after 6AM so Mom, Teresa, and I went to Downtown Disney for the day. We did lots of walking, not so much shopping. I didn't by a damn thing! I just didn't think I needed anything. We had a yummy lunch at "The Earl of Sandwich" and then headed back to the hotel to relax for awhile. That night we went to the "Arabian Nights" dinner show. It was really fun. The food was just okay, but we got free beer, so that was awesome. It's amazing how people can train animals to do those things! Crazy! After the show we headed back to the hotel and, to our surprise, the Daytona crew showed up about 30 minutes after we got home. Couldn't believe it! After we went to Talladega it took us 5 horus to get home. It only took them like 1.5 hours. The end of the race got rained out, and Jr. didn't do too well. He was wrecked, but ended up placing 27th. They all had a good time, despite the rain.
Universal Studios (Monday)
The day started out a little shaky when we got the park and dad's motorized wheelchair wasn't turning on. Man, that would have sucked. But, dad's magical touch did the trick and off we were. Don't know why anyone didn't think to do this, but his chair wasn't charged after the race...dumb. Anyway, we did make it through the day, wheelchair in tact. We bought our tickets equipped with the "Fast Pass" feature. I strongly recommend paying the extra $31 for the fast pass, you almost never have to wait in line. We got to do so many more rides because of it! Awesome. Here are the rides we went on: Shrek 4-D (okay), ET: The Adventure (lame), The Simpsons Ride (okay), JAWS (awesome), Disaster: Making a Movie (okay), and The Mummy (my favorite...only mom went with me on that one). We ate at Mel's Diner, which had a 50's theme. We had milkshakes and burgers. It was okay. Around 5pm we found out that the parks closed at 7pm. LAME. We still had to get over to Islands of Adventure, so we hustled over there and caught a few rides. We went on the Jurassic Park ride (awesome and a bit damp), Ripsaw Falls (awesome, extremely wet), and then Joel and I went on the ride that shoots you up in the air and then drops you...can't remember the name, but it was fun. I can't believe he went with me. We left the park right when it closed and headed back to the hotel. After grabbing a bite to eat at the hotel we took a dip in the hot tub. Felt soooo dang good after walking all day!
Down Day (Tuesday)
After spending all of our money the day before we decided not to go to another park. If we would have gone, I would have zero dollars in my account right now, no kidding. So I'm glad we didn't go. The Race crew wanted to check out Downtown Disney, so I went again. Just more shopping, but this time we ate at the Rainforest Cafe. Delicious and fun. There's a thunderstorm there every 20 mintues. It get's really dark and loud. The little girls next to us were scared. =) Funny. Teresa and Jesse just stayed at the pool all day. After we had enough shopping we found a place to eat that night. Kobe Steakhouse, I know, original, right? There's one in Omaha. But it was one of the greatest times of the trip. Food was amazing...and our cook was hilarious. We had a great time.
Travel Day from Hell (Wednesday)
The last travel day always sucks. We had so many little kids on this flight. I was about ready to go bizerk. Thankfully, Jesse and Teresa have a portable DVD player so we watched a movie until we got to Chicago, so it wasn't all bad. We had to have our plane de-iced in Chicago because it was gross weather there, but we made it home safely. After doing a little laundry I slept well Wednesday night to prepare for my interview the next morning.
Interview Day (Thursday)
Interview went well. I always get so nervous, but I did fine. I'm supposed to hear from them by Thursday! Exciting. Headed back to Lincoln after the interview and back to work till 6! I am in need of funds now that my vacation is over and my money is gone. Always seems to happen that way.

I went home this weekend to get my bridesmaid dress altered for Shannon's wedding. I'm getting super excited. Her bachelorette party is this Saturday in Omaha, so I have that to look forward to! Hope everyone is doing well! I'll post some pictures someday!

Who has an interview on Friday? THIS GIRL!
That's right everyone, I'll be interviewing for a position in Omaha at 4pm on Friday. Please keep me in your thoughts as I will have extreme anxiety (which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone). I'm hoping things go well because I really want to be in Omaha. I welcome the change in my life. Though I am not out of my lease until the end of April and am not excited to basically be living in 2 places at once, I am excited for what could come. I scheduled a haircut Friday morning so I can look my best!
So, with a haircut Friday morning, four hours of work, and an interview all on Friday this means I've got to be packed and ready to go for Florida on Thursday since we leave this Saturday! I can't believe it has come already! I am so dang excited to fly, have fun, and eat delicious food! I just hope the weather is cooperative. I started packing yesterday since I'm still in winter mode it was pretty easy to pack summer stuff. I know it won't be extremely hot, but I'm definitely not used to 70's! Now I just have to be cautious about the sun so I don't have a wicked tan line for Shannon's wedding. Which, by the way is quickly creeping up! It's only about 5 weeks away. You should see the red shoes I've got for this wedding. They are awesome and I'm pretty sure I'm in love with them.
Speaking of love...I saw a commercial for a new kind of Cheerios. I've never been much of a cereal girl, but these looked awesome. Banana Nut Cheerios. Let me tell you, they are amazing and I highly recommend them. I am excited to get up in the morning so I can eat them again!

I said I didn't have any plans last weekend but that quickly changed. Amy and Brent came over Friday night and we enjoyed a meal from Raisin' Canes. De-lish. One of my favorite places to go (notice how everything I love is a food item...). The next day I didn't have anything planned, so I made another one of my loves, pretzels with a Hershey's hug melted on top of it. They are super easy to make and they satisfy the salty, sweet, and chocolate cravings all at one. Here is the recipe according to me:

Heat oven to 170.
Unwrap a bag of Hershey's Hugs.
Lightly grease a cookie sheet (I recommend one with edges).
Place pretzels (small twists) on the cookie sheet each about one inch apart (it's easier to melt the Hug if they have some space).
Place one Hug on each pretzel .
Bake for 5 minutes.
Remove pan from oven and immediately squish an M&M on to each melted Hug.
Make room in your freezer or fridge for the pan and set the cookie sheet in there for about 15 minutes.
Gently pluck each pretzel off of the cookie sheet (may want to use a knife).
Enjoy!

I love making these because they are so dang easy and since M&M's have a huge variety of colors they can be used a several different holidays! Anyway, back to Saturday afternoon. Cassie called me and found out that I wasn't doing anything. She decided to come to Lincoln after supper. In the mean time I made myself busy watching Ghost Adventures online. Love that show, but I can only watch it when it's light outside or when someone else is home. I get too freaked out otherwise, but it's fun. Jared called me when I was waiting for Cassie so he came over to hang out. Then Becky came over. Then Jeremy and Amber got home. Then I called Derek and told him to come to Lincoln. He brought Brandon and Patrick and we just had a little shin-dig. Becky went home early so the 8 of us played a game of Cranium. It was great. Jared and I dominated the competition (of course). We ended the night with a late run to Perkins to enjoy some breakfast. I love random weekends like that! They are the most fun.

The Marathon Shift

Call me crazy, but I'm working a 14 hour shift at the Rec today. It just sort of happened. I have this notion that I need to get as many hours as I can because I'm going to miss 3 days of work when I'm in Florida. I think I was a bit crazy. However, so far, so good. Just gotta keep taking one hour at a time.
Nothing at all planned for this weekend. I can't afford to do anything. I know I've said this a million times, so I won't bore you with how poor I am. I just feel bad that I'm missing Shannon's bridal shower. So, looks like I'll be staying home and watching movies or something. It is supposed to be super nice so maybe I'll try to get outside and do something that requires no money at all!
Countdown to Florida: 9 days!

keepin' the worries small

Must have been a combination of things last night, but I was feeling pretty down in the dumps.
First, I'm sick...again. Dang head cold always seems to find me. However, I'm convinced it's my allergies (whatever they are...) because I've been sneezing like mad! Second, the job search is not going well. I don't feel like I'm qualified for anything and I'm just doubting my ability, even though I know I am capable of doing whatever I want. Third, I was just emotional (and I know this sounds childish and wacky) but I had a terrible nightmare on Sunday night. Don't even want to talk about it, but you know you've had a bad dream when you wake up sobbing. Literally. Then I cried about it later that day. Twice. So I've just been feeling sorry for myself. Fourth, I'm as poor as a church mouse. Every penny I earned on my last paycheck was distributed towards rent, my bm dress for Amber's wedding, and my credit card bill. Sad day. However, there is hope.

Every time I get in a bind, I pray. Simple as that. I ask God to come through for me, and I have been so blessed. Last night I was at the end of my rope so I just talked to God for awhile. Today, I got a phone call for a position and an e-mail for another. Amazing, huh? I thought so. Pretty busy with work, so I'm going to sign off.

Lookin' Up!!

I know it sounds cliche, but God does work in mysterious ways. Just as I was about to give up hope on the few jobs that I applied for (and was really interested in 2 of them...) I get an e-mail from the hiring agency for one position. It stated that they had reviewed my resume and that I was qualified for the position and they wanted to begin the interviewing process as soon as possible. I was to e-mail the person back if I was still interested, so I did immediately. I got another e-mail requesting some more information about my references, so I provided it and now I'm just waiting for a phone call! I am super excited to get into the swing of things, interviewing, and moving on to the next stage of my life! Omaha, I hope you're ready for me.

My mom and dad came to Lincoln last weekend, and I got some new luggage! I needed some sooo bad. Mine is literally falling apart and broken (darn airlines!). We also went out to eat at Grisanti's and it was amazing. Seriously.....the best tomato soup I've ever had in the world. They also have awesome bread.......yummy. We did a lot of shopping, got a few things for Florida (which is in 17 days, Woohoo!), and just lounged around. I also got my new cell phone, finally. I love it. It's always fun getting new stuff.

Not much else to report. I don't really have anything going on this weekend. I'm going to take Becky out to eat because she's got a big HR exam tomorrow and she's going to need some friend time, I think. Good luck B!

just keeps gettin' better

Tomorrow is Thursday which means that in 2 days it will be Saturday. This makes me happy.

I am celebrating my 23rd birthday on Saturday with my friends. We are going to the boats to gamble and I could not be more excited. We've never done something like this so I am hoping we'll have an awesome time. I have also booked two hotel rooms for a steal of a deal. 2 rooms for 8 adults for $95! Hotwire.com for those of you who think that's awesome.

Sunday I'm going to my sister's house to hang with her (possibly sit in the hot tub) and just relax. Monday (my actual birthday) Teresa and I have the day off so we are going to do some shopping in Omaha. I have a bunch of gift cards and merchandise credit that I'd like to spend and she said she has lots of stuff to shop for also. So, that will be fun. My sister is awesome and I'm super excited to have a sister day.

Next weekend my mom and dad are coming to celebrate my birthday. My mom also has some shopping to do, so once again I'll be at the mall. Oh darn..... Then they'll take me out to eat for birthday dinner, yay! I've been seeing these ads for Red Lobster and I just think seafood sounds so dang good so that's where I want to go (and I know my dad loves that place too so he'll be happy). That Sunday I am super excited to take my parents to my church. It is so different from our church back home. I just love our pastor, he is so good and I'm excited for them to hear his sermon. Back home church is so traditional and church in Lincoln is contemporary. It will be quite different.

I finally decided that I need to buy my shoes for Shannon's wedding. The sooner I get my shoes the sooner I can alter my dress. My roommate works at David's Bridal so I think I'm just going to get them from there. They have some SUPER cute shoes and it only costs $3 to get them dyed! Crazy. Check out the pic of our bridesmaid dresses. Aren't they cute?? I am getting more and more excited for Shannon and Andrew's wedding. I can't believe it's in just over 2 months! Oh, you know what that means? Bachelorette party! Yay! Shannon has such a fun group of bridesmaids and I just know we're going to have a blast. So, here's the shout out to Bonnie, Celinda, LeaAnn, and Erin!

Also, I would like to address my blog from Sunday night. It has just been a struggle for me to accept that life is difficult sometimes. I've just realized that I have a loving and caring God and I can't do anything to control the situation. I just have to trust that He will work in my heart and make things right. He's never disappointed me before, so I just have to quit doubting and "let go and let God." It's crazy how God works...seriously. Amazing. So, Halley, I don't know if you read my blog, but if you are reading now...I'm sorry and I love you. Always have, always will. Forgive me, I am trying to cope with the situation, as I'm sure you are.

Some things in life I just don't understand

Bear with me.....I'm having a rough night.
I don't understand how two people can go from being friends to.....this. I feel like I'm at my breaking point and that I'm out of options. It's in her hands and I think she's got a lot of mending to do in many hearts. The ties that bind family are strong, but believe me, they can be stretched to their limits. It's like a slinky. If you stretch it out and then try to make it was the way before, it may still function, however, it will never be the same as it once was. That's how I feel. I am angry, sad, and confused. I wish she was handling things differently. I wish she knew what she was doing to the people that love her.
I am to the point now that I don't know what to do (that is, if she ever talks to me again, I don't know, it could happen). I want to yell at her, I want to understand what she's going through, but most of all I just wish she would talk to me. I can't yell at her because I don't understand her situation, but maybe if she'd talk to me I could. How can we go from talking all the time to not at all. I just don't get it. It's a big question mark that follows me around everyday. I don't think about it constantly, but at least once a day. Guess I've got a lot of praying to do!
(Sorry for being so vague, sometimes ya just gotta get it off your chest, even if it is just writing it down.)
P.S. I'm totally dreading tomorrow. Classes resume at UNL which means the Rec is going to suck majorly. However, the weather isn't looking too hot so maybe that will keep some people indoors!! PRAY!

Are the Bulls still a Basketball team??

One of the questions I asked our new friends from Chi-town. Larry was not impressed, but I couldn't resist asking about the Bulls. =) Okay, here's the explanation. Last night I went bowling with Becky and her roommates. In the lane next to us were three guys from Chicago. They were lots of fun and we closed down Legends at 1AM last night. It was crazy, but I'm glad we did it. I love those crazy random nights. Chris, Eric, and Larry...it was nice to meet you, and we'll probably never see you again.
So other than the night of randomness, I have been busy at the Rec this week. Students are returning from Xmas vacation and Monday is going to be Hell. Locker rentals, memberships, FitCards, retrieving locker contents, ick! I'm just totally dreading it. I've also been busy searching for jobs. I've got a few leads, but have only applied to one job so far. So, if anything pops out at you that I'd be good at, let me know! =)

I guess it's okay now to tell everyone that I'm going to Florida in February! We surprised my dad at Christmas with a trip to the Daytona 500. I won't be going to the race, but my mom, my sister and I will be doing something else while dad, Joel, Angie, and Jesse are at the race. I am so excited. It sort of puts a hold on the job search. I have a job now that can pay the bills, so I'm debating on whether or not to apply to other places until after the trip. I don't think I'm going to do that, however. I just need to get down to it and get an actually salaried position so I can be a "real" adult. Sounds weird!

Hope everyone had a great holidays. I had a super fun time with most of my family (or those who chose to attend....nevermind). Happy 2009.
