Tending Bar

I had my first experience bar tending this weekend. It was alumni weekend in Albion and The Junction was in need of some extra hands. It went really well actually. So well that I now wouldn't mind another job. Maybe. We were super busy with the class of 1978 and other miscellaneous classes over the years. Man, people are funny drunks. Some are mean, but most of them funny. Made $180 in tips but had to split it 3 ways. However, $60 in one night isn't bad at all. I worked from 7pm-2am, and now I'm behind on sleep once again thanks to my dog, Harley. I finally got to bed about 3am and Harley woke me up at 8:30am. Oh well, I'll get caught up sometime.

I'm really really excited for this weekend. I'm traveling to Clarinda, Iowa to see Shannon, Andrew, and LeaAnn. Bonnie is also coming up to visit us on Friday night. I can't wait to see everyone! It will be my first trip to Clarinda in over 2 years! Crazy! I just have to find a route where I won't run into flooding. I can't believe all the water that's in Iowa. Unreal. Fires in California and flooding in Iowa. Can't Mother Nature work something out here!? Hopefully we'll be spending the first day of summer gettin' some sun and drinking a few margaritas! We'll have to see! That's all I've got for today! Adios.

I think about you in the summertime. I'm sittin' here in the sun with you on my mind. You are, my summertime." --New Kids on the Block

It's Over!

Well, I guess first things first. I'm done with my Presession class! Yay! It wasn't too bad actually. I kind of liked it. Sitting in class for 4 hours a day wasn't very fun, but I think I learned a lot. Our teacher was awesome and made things fun, so I'm glad she was able to make a kind of suckey situation better.
I just got back from Las Vegas last Sunday. I went with Cassie and we had a blast. We got there Thursday and just played a few slots and some games of blackjack at our casino (Circus Circus). After losing money, we called it an early night. Something about flying just sucks away all your energy. We woke up the next morning ready to go. We jumped on the Deuce and started seeing all the casinos. The Mirage was disappointing because the water was drained. They were working on something, so I was sad Cassie didn't get to see that. We also went to Caesar's Palace. I loved that place. It was probably one of my favorite casinos. I also won $25 there. We went to a few other places including Harrahs. We bought our show tickets there to see Improv at Harrahs. It was a riot. The guys were sooooo funny!! I would recommend the show to anyone. Tickets were about $35. Way fun. After the show we decided we weren't ready to go to bed. We headed to Treasure Island to see the pirate ship show. However, after waiting for 40 minutes they decided to not to the show "due to wind." I swear to you, it was a gentle breeze. I was very very disappointed because I didn't get to see that last time I was in Vegas. So anyway, we walked to the Bellagio to watch the fountains. However, turns out we missed that too. Then we had to wait for the Deuce, which never came. We ended up walking all the way back to Circus and I was pissed beyond belief. It was about a 3 mile walk all together. -----
-----The next day we started kind of late because we intended on not sleeping that night due to our early flight departure. We again got on the Deuce and rode to Monte Carlo. Last time I was in Vegas I didn't get to go in because it had caught fire. It was pretty cool inside as well. Then we went to Excalibur, NY NY, and MGM. By the time we got into MGM, I was thirsty so I had one of the best drinks ever at the Rainforest Cafe. It had low-fat frozen yogurt, Kahlua, coconut rum, a banana, and chocolate syrup. It was like a big banana chocolate malt. It kicked major ass. Then we headed to the M&M factory and went through that. It was just okay. Kind of kiddy. Go fig. But then the real fun began. We decided to go to Fremont Street to "Old Vegas." It was, by far, the best experience I've had in Vegas. Don't get me wrong, the Thunder from Down Under was awesome in January, but this was awesome. The light show was so cool. I also loved the casinos down there because they were uber-cheap! I played blackjack for an hour on $2 because it was 5 cent bets. Way cool in my book. I won enough money to buy my supper at Binons. Then we headed to our hotel and home the next morning! It was quite the trip. A good time was had by all. I promise I'll get a slide show up of some of my pictures!

However, two weeks before Vegas, Ashley and Eric tied the knot. That was also an extremely fun night. The wedding was beautiful, as was Ashley. She was the perfect petite bride. The rehearsal dinner went smoothly with some funny stories told by the parents. The food was delicious at the Country Club and we looked pretty cute. The day of the wedding went smoothly as well. Hair was beautifully done by Sheila Fowlkes in Newman Grove and Becky's mom Janice made lunch for us. After a tearful wedding, we jumped on a trailer and headed out to the Fairgrounds for dinner and the dance. It was the BEST food I've ever had at a wedding. No joke. I loved it. The cake was also perfection. We boogied down the rest of the night and finished at Time Out bar after the dance ended. It was a major success. Ashley and Eric have to be pleased.

Going to be working almost full-time for the remainder of the summer, which is an extremely good thing because I'm really poor. I have just been so busy with my class the past 3 weeks. It feels good to be done. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
