it's going to be a good day

You know it's going to be a good day when you wake up to an amazing song. My alarm is set to "radio" so I wake up to 104.1 The Blaze every morning. I woke up to "I Don't Care" by Apocalyptica. It's an awesome song, so check it out.
I've had a pretty awesome week. I got my midterms all back, finally. Two good ones, one bad one. However we convinced our teacher that we should retake our bad exam because the questions were vague and had nothing to do with what we had been learning about. So, I have to retake the multiple choice portion on Monday. No biggie. I hope I'll do a little better! I got an A on my essay exam in my Comm class. I couldn't believe it. I think that's like the 2nd A I've earned on an exam. I was thrilled. Then, I got an A- on my 10 page paper. Graduation keeps getting closer and I am beginning to see the finish line. Yay!

Last night Amy and Brent came over for our traditional watching of Grey's and The Office. Amy had missed the past two weeks of Grey's so she came over at 6 and tried to catch up before 8. (I know that any TRUE Grey's fan would never get so far behind...haha.) Anyway, both episodes were great. I just love the Office. I don't know why anyone wouldn't watch that show. It's so funny! I was baking Halloween cookies during commercials so one batch is a little over-cooked but I'm sure they're still edible. I put on orange and purple-ish black-ish frosting. The orange looks mango and the purple looks gray.....oh well, I tried.

I decided that since I had the afternoon off yesterday I would go give blood. It's just something I enjoy doing. It's an extremely easy way to give back to the community with doing so little. It literally takes me less than 30 minutes to do everything. I strongly encourage people to give blood. People come up with excuses all the time why they can't donate, but what it really comes down to is will power. Sure, I know there are actual physical reasons people can't donate, but those of you who are able should do it! You can save up to 3 lives each time you donate. I donated 6 times (which is the max) last year and only 4 times this year. I know, I was slacking. At most places you don't even have to make an appointment. You just go in, read the education materials, check some consent forms, get your iron, temperature, pulse, and blood pressure tested and then you're good to go! I went at 12:30 yesterday which is one of the busiest times because many people try to donate. I ate a roast beef sandwich, two chocolate chip cookies, and a pile of goldfish crackers, as well as a Coca Cola and a bottle of water. So yummy. Really, I think it's just taking the initiative to do your civic duty. So to all the people who are telling everyone to go vote, I challenge you to get out there and donate! I am driving home 2 hours to cast my ballot next Tuesday so you should spend 30 minutes saving 3 lives!! Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

Christmas music!

I usually make myself wait until November 1st to bust out the Christmas tunes, but I couldn't wait any longer. I also can't believe that Christmas is in two months! Seriously people, you better start shopping! So, last night Amber and I were jamming to Manheim Steamroller and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I just love Christmas music. It's a huge part of the season and I don't think I'd enjoy Christmas as much if it didn't have good music. I'm sad that I'm going to miss the TSO concert this year. I've gone the past two years, but I have another obligation that weekend that is still on the DL (so I will talk about that later).

I also felt that since It's below 70 degrees in our apartment that it's cold enough for Christmas thoughts. I looked at our stocking last night and wanted to decorate SO BAD. However, I will probably wait to get too carried away until after Thanksgiving.

The spring semester schedule of classes came out and I am SO happy not to be flipping through pages! I don't have to register anymore! Yippee! It's still hard to believe that I'm graduating in less than 2 months! A college grad! Amy and I are having our grad party together. I think we've decided to have it at the Belmont Community Center. Amy used to work there and I think she can get it for free. So we'll use what money we would have spent on a rental fee for food! I told mom that she had to get me a cake from home. We have this lady in town that makes the best cakes ever..........man, they are tasty. But, we can't have alcohol in this place (obviously...it's connected to an elementary school, haha). So, we'll just have to celebrate with booze later that night.

I think I'm going to wrap it up. I can't stop yawning (go fig) and I think I need to walk around for awhile since I have to work till 4pm today. Boo!

it's raining, it's pouring, i wish i was home snoring

So tired tonight. I was an idiot and took a sub shift for someone at the Rec. However, I had good reason for doing it. I took off all day on Monday and decided I didn't want to see an eight hour pay cut in my next paycheck. So even though I am SO damn tired (and cannot stop yawning) I will be thanking myself later. I also had a stroke of genius tonight when I signed up for 4 more hours of sub shifts. I just think that if I sub for people that they will sub for me. However, I am finding out that this is not the case. I have sent out two e-mails asking people to sub for me and so far, there are no takers. COME ON people. I sub all the time! F!

Anyway, fall break was pretty dang relaxing. Obviously I didn't get enough Z's though. I finally got my paper finished Sunday night at 9 pm and submitted it as quickly as possible. Then I was officially on fall break. Yesterday I did absolutely nothing. I didn't wake up till 10 and then I watched t.v. and played the piano all day. Last night mom made the best supper ever: steak, homemade french fries, green beans, and croissant rolls. DE-LISH. Big Joe and Angie came over, too. They brought their Wii and we had some fun. I was going through Wii withdrawal. It was really fun, but now I'm sore from boxing and tennis (ha ha).

Today I got up and headed to the new dentist in town. It's in a totally new building and it was really nice. They don't have actual examination rooms, but it's more open. I really really liked it. The dentist was excellent and my teeth are now sparkling and clean. He did inform me that one of my wisdom teeth is coming in perpendicular to my back molar. In other words that isn't good. He strongly recommended that I get my wisdom teeth puller within the next 12 months. So, I guess that's something I'll have to put on my to do list. Other than that, I am still cavity-free and have been for my whole life! Yay me! I left for Lincoln at about 3 this afternoon. It was raining just a tad and when I got outside of Columbus it just started pouring. Not to mention I was following someone who was going 45 mph and pissing me (and a million other cars behind me) off. Suddenly, I get a text message from Mel that says, "Get the hell outta my way!" I was like, wtf?? Then I realized that Mel was behind me. It was funny (to me at least...ha).

I'm getting REALLY excited for the Metallica concert!! Only 16 days left! Also, there's only 2 months left until I graduate from college! What a great year! So much happening. Well, I'm going to go buy some Naked juice to try to wake me up a little bit.

fin.

YES! Midterms are over!! I am thrilled. However I do have one more task standing between me and Fall Break...a paper. That paper will not be hard to write, I just don't want to do it! It's super lame and he doesn't even really care what we write about so......yea. Lack of motivation here. Who cares, I'll get it done just like I do everything else. Time to talk about my past weekend.

On Friday Jared and I drove to Omaha to meet Cassie and Derek. We had every intention of going to a haunted house, but on the way up Jared and I decided we didn't want to do that. So we broke the news to Cassie and Derek who were fine with it. We ate an expensive supper at Kona Grill. It was probably one of the best steaks I've ever had. We had calamari and it was to die for. Jared had a lemon-crusted halibut which was also devine. We all had to sample each other's food because we don't fine dine a lot (how can you on a college budget?). So, it was really really fun eating at a high-scale restaurant where you can't order a cheeseburger.

After the delicious meal (and a $40 pair of shoes from DSW) we went to Cassie's. She's staying in a really nice house and there's a gas fire pit. We decided that instead of spending additional money elsewhere that we would just make s'mores! It was so fun just sitting around the fire reminiscing about the good ole' days when we were in high school.

Saturday was extremely fun. The day began with a trip to Westroads. I wanted to find some dressier clothes but I had no luck. So Cassie and I decided to buy candles instead. I just love Yankee candles so we were in there for about 30 minutes trying to decide what to buy. Then it was time to go home and prepare lunch. Cass made Caesar burgers and they were to die for. We also had pizza dip, bean dip, salads, chips, and cookies. Ashley and Eric joined us for lunch and the game. Everything was just wonderful! We watched the Husker game (by the way, my score prediction was the closest at work so I won the prize this week!) and we were going crazy, but unfortunately Ganz threw an interception in overtime. Bummer. However we didn't let that spoil our fun. Then Becky came to Omaha and we played some ping pong while the others were watching Iron Man. I wasn't in the movie mood. Me and Bex had a blast and then we had to get ready for the Jim Gaffigan show.

Jim was everything I hoped he would be. I was laughing so hard that I was crying. My eyes hurt so bad after the show because I was constantly wiping tears away. I don't remember that last time I have laughed that hard. It still makes me laugh just thinking about it. I think everyone had a great time so I'm glad we got to do that together.

This weekend I'm heading home. It is Fall Break and I'm just going to relax. I don't have to work on Monday at all, however I do have to go to the dentist (which is part of the reason why I'm going home). But I'm looking forward to not studying and not doing any homework for 4 days.

midterms...ugh

It's that time of year already and I can hardly believe it.
Midterms are here. I have my first one today at 5pm. I think I am well prepared. Amber and I went to the Union Crib last night and studied for a solid 2.5 hours. It was so quiet in there. So after my test tonight I am going to meet Jessica to study for our Comm essay midterm which is tomorrow morning at 9:30am. That is the test I am not looking forward to at all. He has 12 questions and he, not us, selects 4. We then write essays about whatever he selects. Dorky. So hopefully I've been paying close enough attention to do well. I have to pass all of my classes no matter what because I do not want to be in school anymore. Every time I say that I hear, "Oh you won't be saying that in 6 months." I'm here to tell you that YES I WILL. I am done with school after graduation. D-O-N-E. Fin.
I'll blog later about my weekend, it was incredible. But, I'm off work at 4 and I'm going to study a little bit more before my exam! Wish me luck!

i miss Pam

The Office was kinda of blah for me last night. I need Pam there! It just isn't right without her. She needs to hurry up with school and get back and marry Jim. However, at least Jim was playing a prank on Dwight. That made the episode worthwhile in my opinion. Hilarious, in fact.
Grey's was pretty good. Brent and Amy came over again (I think it's tradition now) and they brought me Raisin' Canes. I guess that means it's my turn to "cook" next week. Ha ha!
At least I'm having a better day than I was earlier this week. I'm really excited to go to Scary Acres tonight, but Amy said she went last year and waited forever in line, so we'll see. I'm sure I'll be blogging about this weekend sometime next week.

I need to start piecing together my Halloween costume. Last year, Wanda was a fortune teller and I loved that idea! She looked really cool. She had a long flashy skirt, a plain white top, a long scarf worn on her head and some huge hoops. I'm also going to wear lots of overdone makeup. I am pretty excited. I need to go to Goodwill and see what I can find! What are you going to be?
Anyway, go Huskers. I'm hoping for a victory (of course) but I predict a 51-31 loss against Texas Tech. Go big red!

i'm not your honey

It drives me crazy when people I don't know call me hon, honey, sweetie, or any term of endearment. I do not know you. Do not call me honey. It happens to me all the time at the Rec because all I do is serve the general public. It's just habit for some people, I know but it "really grinds my gears." Sorry, had to throw the Family Guy quote in there. I also just don't understand why people are so retarded. Seriously! When bag check is full, I do not have anywhere to put you shit! Don't look at me like I'm going to perform a magic trick and make more room appear. Maybe if you rent a locker you won't have to worry about there not being room and if you don't have $2 to rent a locker then maybe you should just not work out and quit being a pain in my ass.
So basically, I'm crabby today. I told Mitch that because I talked to him last night it was one less hour of sleep for me and one more hour of crabby tomorrow. Guess I was right. People ask me why I have a blog all the time. This is one great reason: it is an easy way to vent. The other way I like to de-stress is drinking margaritas for 1/2 price and eating Mexican food. That makes me feel really good. So, I will probably call Becky tonight and make her go to Las Margaritas tonight. However, I have to work till 6 so I'll have to wait a little more than usual.

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE, I'm going to Omaha Friday night. Me and Jared are meeting Cassie and Derek to go to some haunted attractions around Omaha. I'm psyched, but even more so for Jimmy boy Gaffigan on Saturday night, but I've already told you about that. I think we're going to Scary Acres in Omaha. Derek went last year and he said it was a blast. At least I have something to look forward to, right??
Hope you have a better day than me.

what's up 402?!

Okay, so I stole from Pam Beasley from last week's episode of The Office......(what's up 212).
I can't believe it's October already. 17 days until Fall Break! Woot. However, I'm not too excited for Fall Break because I'll be sitting in the dentist's chair. As of now, it's just a check-up, but I'm pretty sure I need my wisdom teeth taken out because my teeth have been hurting lately. Not a great feeling and whatever I can do to get rid of the pain is okay with me. However, I will be out when I have those babies ripped from my mouth. Fo sho! I heard that's the only way to do it and if you do it any other way you are crazy. So I'll stay on the sane track.

Last night Cassie calls me....."Hey, I'm coming down to Lincoln to eat supper with you." Okay! So I call B and we head to the mall early to do some shopping before Cassie gets here. I got a new Husker shirt because the one I got last weekend before the game is too big. This one is awesome though. I will wear it this weekend and post a pic or two. Then, we ate 30 cent wings at Applebees and since I didn't have to be at work till 10pm or so we did some more shopping. I am the best person to shop with. I bought one thing and Cassie and Becky bought a lot more. We weren't even going to go into The Limited, but I encouraged the girls to at least look. Bex had been needing a white top, so of course, I went to the clearance rack and found her one. Cass needed pants for teaching, and I found her some. They were having a buy one get one for half off sale so she ended up getting 4 pair of super nice slacks. Again, I am an awesome shopper (for other people, not so much for myself!) But it was really fun having a litttle "girls night."

This weekend I'm heading home to watch the Nebraska/Missouri football game at Joel and Angie's on their new HD tv. Jesse and Teresa are also coming home so it will be a big family shindig. I have a list of stuff I want to do this weekend including: 9 holes of golf, taking Harley for a walk, hanging with everyone, and taking a trip to the Brewed Bean (they have the best muffins in the whole world, I kid you not). However, my weekend will be bittersweet because somewhere in all the fun I have to write a 10 page paper for my Comm class. Bummer! Then, I get to do it all again for the next week for a different class. Seriously, 10 pages is too long. I am not a good writer (as far as content) so writting 10 pages tends to make me BS a lot. Oh well, I'll do what I can. I have actually started. I wrote an outline last night at work, so I think that will help. But gross, I don't want to talk about school.

Next weekend I am going to see Jim Gaffigan at the Omaha Music Hall with Cass, Bex, Jared, and Derek. I am so dang excited, I can hardly control my excitement. Here's a clip from his "Hot Pocket" speech. It's hilarious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tw7xPaL56Ow

That's really all I've got for today, so have a good weekend, and GO HUSKERS!
